Sofiaspring was once a renowned spa and leisure facility, with two sources.

Today, only one in operation – but it is just as special. It is probably Scandinavia’s only natural saltwater source, a saline source that was found in the 1880s.

It was said to be curative and useful to all sorts of ailments, from indigestion to bronchitis and rheumatism.

This is a beautiful spring in the heart of the city that I never paid any attention to growing up in Helsingborg.

Living in New York for a long time and having learned the value of fresh spring water I immediately googled springs in Helsingborg because I’m now here for a while and to my surprise, BINGO! – this spring came up.

I went there today and filled up 5 bottles and I am super excited.

The water is VERY salty. So the water might be hard to drink exclusively. The spring is beautiful and has just been restored. It is super easy to find.

I am going to drink it for a few weeks and see how I feel. I had some today and so far so good.

The flow is slow right now so keep that in mind. It took me about 15 min to fill 2 gallons.

If you want an incredible source for other springs in Sweden then check out this site: http://apps.sgu.se/kartvisare/kartvisare-kallor-sv.html – it has hundreds of springs located all around Sweden (Say whaaaat?!!)

Enjoy.
