This is great fresh water spring. Very cold and clean. Free and available 24/7.

“Many locals use this spring and know of it. The first time I went to find it, we got lost and just asked a nearby resident who gave us great directions. I heard of it from a friend of my dad’s who’s parents have used the spring for many years now.” – Andrea Wiens

Nearest Address

Manzer St., Mission, BC (off of Hwy #7)

Directions from Nearest Address

Off of Hwy #7, heading west from Mission towards Maple Ridge, turn right on Nelson St. (its a small street and if you miss it, take the next right on Chester, both streets work). Turn left on Silverdale, right on Gaglardi St., left on Donatelli and right on Manzer. (It’s a windy drive but only 6km’s long). From hwy 7, its 6km’s to the spring. When you get to Manzer St., you’ll drive until you see a sharp left turn, (there are 3 yellow arrows pointing left). Pull over on the right and the spring is right there (don’t turn left or you’ve passed it); there’s room for your car to park on the side.

I just tried this spring. It’s only 2 km up – very short drive – from when you turn onto Manzer.

Has anyone ever tested the water?

  2. Katie says:

I spoke to a person from the municipality of mission in regards to this spring and asked if the district tests it. He told me Mission does not test this spring. He did however give me some data on the spring because at one point they did some water quality testing on it a few years ago; twice.

Heavy metals, fluoride, arsenic, nitrates/nitrites were within safe range.  However coliform and ph was high on both test results. Somehow, animals are able to defecate in it or worse.

Perhaps regular users of this spring are boiling the water before drinking it or have been lucky. I would say use caution. It may appear to come rolling out of the hillside but somewhere up there, the spring must pool in an area that animals go to.

  3. Basswoman says:

Hmmm, I wonder if it’s possible somehow to get this spring tested again?
Even a small group of people paying for an independent test could be helpful
    for so many.
I would love to be able to use this source!

  4. Andrea says:

I’ve stopped using this spring because there’s too much particulate matter in the water. I’m not sure if it’s good to drink anymore…

  5. Fernandetwin2 says:

Just curious – has anyone had this water checked?  I am considering it however it costs $213.50.  Would love help with that.  Thanks

  6. Loise says:

I believe the water is fine; just make sure it is boiled. Its a very popular spring.

  7. annonomus says:

this is a source of water put in by local residence for live stalk and water for when wells go dry in the summer please keep it clean since this has been on the web their has been garbage left by the bag load the local residents are not happy and are stuck cleaning it up the district will dig up parking if it does not stop

  8. Mihai P says:

We filled about ten 4 gallon jugs. The water is clear and clean.

We’ve been drinking it, making wine, baking bread with it…

After a couple of months, all is still good; and we did not boil it.

You should boil the water if you are not certain about it.

In comparison to the water from Lynn Headwater, I may have liked that one slightly better, because it tasted more “fresh”.

  9. George says:

I just moved to Mission found this spring have been drinking it with no ill effects however after reading the above I think I will start boiling it anyone interested in sharing the testing I understand its about $150

  10. CHRIS says:

I have been drinking this spring water for a year and have no reservations about it whatsoever. I dont know what that comment was about particulate matter in it, we did a total dissolved solids test in it and it was about 100, way under the recommended limit at 500; tap water tested at 83. Which means this is as clean as tap water, and has no chemical soup in it!

I will however stress what annonomous commented below which is – STOP LEAVING YOUR GARBAGE HERE. It is disrespectful to the locals, the people who made this spring accessible, and nature itself. For real though.
