If you drive north from Dillon, Montana about 10 miles and take the Apex exit, head West for about 5-7 miles. After crossing a cattle guard you’ll enter the forest and  shortly after that the road will bend and coming out of the bend there is a vehicle turn out. Park there and walk down the hill a short distance to find a spring with a pipe making filling bottles very easy. It flows at a high rate.

The water tastes crisp! The directions were almost spot on except you pass over 2 cattle guards (one being at the entrance of the forest) before approaching the small vehicle turnout which is on the left side of the road. We had to made a u-turn to park in the turnout. Follow the left path down the hill to find the pipe. Maybe the directions are not more exact in order to keep this place a secret 😉

  2. Dolanowitz says:

Spring is about 10-15 feet below the turnout on the left as you travel up the road. Look for a little 3 foot diameter pool with a 1 & 1/2 inch threaded steel pipe protruding horizontally from the ground. High gpm flow. Probably difficult to fill large carboys as pipe is pretty low to the ground. Great water, great for brewing!
