1.2 mile below Alta Sierra Drive on Dog Bar Rd. Well paved, but narrow curving road. Be careful!

Pipes protrude from hillside into concrete tank with storage roof above
it and surrounded by a rock retaining wall with large sign warning
“Natures Water Drink at own Risk.” Water runs faster after rain,
sometimes dry in Summer

Intermittent flow

Apprx. 1508 Dog Bar Road, 1/4 mile or less past Lorie Drive around the bend. You can google map it and get street view to see the llittle spring house, which is on your left as you head South. The location pinned on the map here is further down the road. From South of Grass Valley take 49 N to Alta Sierra and follow to Dog Bar Road and turn right. It’s just down the road from there about a 1/2 mile. From North of Grass Valley or Highway 20 take 49 S to McKnight exit. Turn Left and then turn right onto La Barr Meadows Road which turns merges into Dog Bar Road a few miles down. As mentioned the sign on the spring house says drink at your own risk. The flow was medium, maybe 75 gph or so when we were there on 5/4/2014. We drank from it and it was good!

Has anyone tested this water for heavy metals or microorganisms? Is it safe to drink? Maybe any locals that have been drinking it for a long period? Thanks, shoot me an email

  3. Beautiful spot but the flow was pretty low last week. it was a nice opportunity to simply surrender to the moment and be whilst our bottles filled up. 🙂

[…] Lucky Springs on Dogbar road was a bit more of a rustic affair and the flow was pretty low as we come into the summer months. It did taste super deliciously sweet so we were thrilled to fill up our 10 gallon worth of water. […]

Has anyone tested this water recently, esp. for heavy metals? Moving to the area soon and scouting out my new water source. Thanks!
