I went there and checked it out. It just kind of spills onto the asphalt without any real place to collect the water. No spout or little collection pool I could find. The owner of the driveway needs to cut back some of the foliage and maybe create a little place to dip a water bottle.

So I heard the spring was on Gordon mountain road which I never did see, so I stopped by this gas station/ cafe/ merchandise store and the guy said I missed it by a mile, so I drove back looking closely for a stream of water coming out of a rock like he said, I found it but about 20 feet away accords the street I found a pipe with water flowing out so I filled up, I’m not sure if it ok to drink, I noticed it has some small amounts of debri in it. Th other water source flowed out of the rock and the guy said its clean, because if you take the water out of the stream it might have deer crap in it.

The spring is 30 miles past Carmel, just drive south of Carmel

      Jesse,
You have found Grimes Spring! The water that comes out of the pipe has been along the road and then under it. Surfers use it as a shower and it is quite warm! You have to take the water directly from the rock wall as that is the source and it pristine. This spring is north of Chicken Spring. Here is a video made by someone we met while filling up

I just found a picture from about 1930 showing a picture of Chicken Spring which I know as Grimes Spring. It shows the old Ed Grimes cabin in the background so I suppose that is how it has come to be called Grimes Spring but I’m guessing it was first known as Chicken Spring. On the Google map I’m seeing Grimes Spring and Chicken Spring as two different places. Not sure why yet will continue to research. Nevertheless I gathered 71 gallons of water there only a month ago and it only took a few hours even in the midst of this terrible drought. Thank you God!

I should clarify. The spring I collected the water from is the one that is 4.3 miles south of the Big Sur Station. I sure would like to know more about the spring where the pin in this picture is indicating.

  5. Esther says:

I think some of the information regarding this spring listed is actually the Grimes spring which is located further north.

Find out how to make your own AMAZING water that’s better than distilled at home! Have you heard of Glacier water? It also has so much energy it can clean and purify a well and its surrounding wells/aquifers/lakes/and even a sewage waste lagoon! Email me if interested at my yahoo email: tigger_eyes_here yahoo

Together with every little thing which appears to be developing within this subject material, your viewpoints are actually relatively exciting. Even so, I appologize, because I can not give credence to your whole plan, all be it exciting none the less. It appears to everybody that your comments are actually not entirely validated and in simple fact you are generally yourself not even entirely certain of your assertion. In any case I did take pleasure in looking at it.
