Description:
I just returned from my first visit to this spring — what a find! My dad says it’s been running his entire life (he’s 70) and knows plenty of folks who regularly fill up there. It’s delicious water pouring at tremendous strength. Good turn-off from road but it nears a corner, so be alert. When driving north on 79, slow down by Growing Gardens nursery — the spring is just ahead, on the left-hand side. – nywvblue

I just returned from my first visit to this spring — what a find! My dad says it's been running his entire life (he's 70) and knows plenty of folks who regularly fill up there. To me, it smells and tastes like an old polluted pond after a heavy rain.
It isnt clear either. If a person has kidney failure then the person should not drink this even in the tiniest sip because there are too many minerals in it, copper, lead, manganese, nickel, chromium, zinc, and poor or inadequate kidneys are not able to filter these heavy metals. There is no chlorine in it either so if you are a child, you are not giving yourself enough protection to maintain good, strong bones and teeth.
Yea…because all kids need a healthy dose of chlorine in their diet to build strong bones. I think you mean fluoride…….. For that reason, I deduct that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Chlorine(not fluoride) kills bacteria that can be harmful in water supplies. However, Chlorine itself is harmful if used improperly. This well has been periodically tested and at times does contain Chloroform(bacteria), it has a high mineral content that would not be benificial for people with kidney problems. For the most part this water is good to drink but be wise it is affected by the ground water from the agriculteral land up the hill.. you can see info gathered at roadsidesprings.info. Be wise when drinking water.
Agreed Mr. G 🙂

for 3 yrs from age 12 to 15 this is were we got our water to drink, cook and clean with!!!!!!!!! i’m so glad to see it is still in use.
we also stopped there to get quick drinks when we were out driving around. i’m 37 almost 38 and that spring was there begore my dad was born who is 60 now.
My family also used to go here when I was growing up (I am 38 now). Never remember ever getting sick (in case someone was worried)
I just went there and filled up with water. There is bacteria in it. My entire family got sick from it(pets included). Not terribly sick but stomach rumblings. The water has to be boiled or have 8 drops of bleach/gal. added to it.
there is supposed to be bacteria in water!!! You are accustomed to “purified” water …. That bacteria was trying to flush out all the preservatives & other toxins we consume ….. It is the only water i consume at home , when I have municipal water my stomach does not like it !
According to Beacon Water when I asked iftbatspring gets tested the reply was was sometimes that water has been brought in and tested. Sometimes it passes and sometimes it doesn’t.
Find it on Google Maps and see what is above it and poss. feeding it
The cats outta the bag, this is the best spring around
I have been using this spring for at least 25 years. The water is sometimes tested so I have no worries, it is potable. It tastes fantastic, and my water kefir thrives on it.
Have lived in this area for several yrs., and forgot about this spring until just yesterday. What a wonderful tasting source of spring water! Clear, very cold, and high flow. Our own well water at home has a high sulphur smell, I’ll be saving up containers to bring this spring water home !
I stop here every time I go and come home from Ithaca, which I have been doing since my daughter started school in 2013. I have NEVER gotten ill from drinking this water. It is clean and delicious!!
Stopped here a few weeks ago and thought it looked questionable since it was just random white pipes with flowing water and no signs. Then, I saw a guy with a luxury car pull up, fill up a water bottle, drink, and walk away. Haha. So then I tried it out myself and found it clear, cold, and refreshing! I would definitely go back with more bottles to fill up. Never got sick. All good 🙂
Very easy to find this – visited it 9/17/16 has a slight iron taste but overall good. Fast moving. Is past a small diner on the L going north.
Filled up about ten 1 Gl bottles twice this summer 2016. Water was clear and tasted very fresh. Nice spring.
