Description
A small wooden structure at the East end of the parking lot. Water flows from a pipe. This flow is from the Prentice spring located on the shores of Lake Superior and captured for use by the city many years ago. Fill your bottles, or cup your hand over the spout to drink “fountain” style, from a small hole on the top of the pop.

I tested the TDS at 72.
this is the Fountain of Youth. sit there and watch – there are people coming and going all day long with every imaginable container to get some of this water.
On january 1st 2012 i measured the TDS at 51 and the temperature at 46.1 degrees.
This is some incredibly pure “tasting” water. (Do we taste what is
there, or what is not there?)
Between 51 and 72 is extremely low TDS, I
wish someone would check the pH. I live in Duluth (an hour and a half
away, at least), and drive through Ashland occasionally, but only during
the summer, so I can’t just hop over there and check the pH. If it is
high (alkaline water), then this is a nectar-of-the-gods source.
This spring needs to be rebuilt, there is a fundraising effort currently underway:

Structure completed and looks great! Great flow from both pipes and great tasting water. Nice park on the shore of Lake Superior occasionally their is a line waiting to fill up but due to the flow rate and the two pipes the wait isn’t long.
You’re forgetting why it was closed in the first place…that’s a goddamn Superfund site.
