Just visited this spring yesterday (3/31/12), and all the trees along the road on both sides near and around the spring have been chopped down. There was plenty of trash strewn along the road and near the spring…doesn’t look promising for the longevity of this spring.

  2. ANS says:

The trees were not “chopped” down, but a tornado went through there. Demolished the spring house and devastated that area. The spring house was rebuilt and the area is trying to recover and rebuild. Our family visits this spring every week and get 12+ gallons of water every week. Very good, clean, and cold water. There is trash down stream, and because we appreciate the availability and the opportunity, we intend to try to clean the area up when time allows. 5-15-12

We’ve been to this spring for about a dozen times in the last a year and a half. This past weekend (7/7/12) was the first time we’ve been since the tornado hit (3/2/12). It was quite a shock; we didn’t know what happened to the place. A local couple was  gathering water when we arrived and told us that it was the tornado. All things considered, the site was pretty clean.

this is a very special place. the water is sweet, delicious, very cold. the road and environment around it are very surprising…wild land… the locals are sometimes not the friendliest. the road is hardly big enough for two cars so you have to maneuver. we got there around 6 in the morning while it was still pretty dark, and it is the kind of road you don’t expect to see anyone else, but when the sun came up people were driving on this road. this spring really moved me. the flow is super strong.

Interesting how this springhouse is publicized without any acknowledgement of the owner/builder. Wow, what a nice guy he must be to let people benefit without their slightest investment!
