Please rate this spring

This is an ancient native sacred place, now privately owned and run as a quaint, rustic resort which offers cabins for rent, camping, teepees, and more. Access to Heated Spring Waters is indoors in large, old fashioned, footed, iron tubs, in private rooms, Coed dry sauna, and outdoor cold plunge in the creek, into which the cold spring runs (verycold and the water is clear and dark amber. *Clothing optional facility. Reputed to have strong healing properties…I go whenever I am in the area. They also run a traditional native American Sweat Lodge with Walking Eagle, a Karuk elder and spiritual leader, by donation as in tradition, with a moon lodge to honor women who are on their moon time and cannot attend the sweat(see website for rules of conduct)

They offer more than i have listed, and book for retreats and special events, so it is advisable to phone ahead.

To Stewart Mineral Springs: Where is the sweat lodge? Where will people go for Healing? How will people know where a
healing ceremony is taking place. I am dismayed. There is no honor in this.

  2. Stuart Ward says:

Sweat lodge is history. New owners as of 1-2016 kicked it out late last year and ended clothing-optional much earlier.

Not much honor now. Even medicine cards have vanished from lobby table. Makes one wonder why they even bought place, unless maybe to try converting to own business headquarters and have hopefuls hearing great things about place subsidize operations cost.

  3. Stuart Ward says:

Just not the same anymore. First banning 16 years of clothing-optional and now kicking out sweat lodge. Pity.
