Sauna and Bathe – Soak at the base of the mountains in a myriad of indoor and outdoor thermal springs. The natural mineral water flows from already hot from deep underground. There’s also a rock sauna in this Japanese style bathhouse.

Hotel – 20 relaxing hotel rooms await you at Maruia. The best part is they all come with 24 hour access to all the indoor and outdoor thermal pools, as well as th saunas and steam room. Escape from your modern life by ditching televisions, radios and telephones. While mobile connection is limited, WiFI is available.

Camping – Wake up to an authentic alpine morning gazing out into the thick Maruia forests. The riverside campgrounds is located 2.5 hours from Christchurch and 1 hour from Hanmer Springs turnoff. Overnight guests of the campground receive two days of 24 hour access to the thermal pools and resort amenities, plus a night of camping for a reasonable fee per person.

Dining – You can rest assured knowing that healthy, delicious meals wait at Maruia Hot Springs. Food is sourced as locally as possible, with much of the fresh fare coming from the property or surrounding region. The casual Cafe is open daily from 8am to 9pm. A more upscale night out can be had at the Restaurant, which begins serving 6pm daily, as well as breakfast each morning from 8am to 10am.

Exploring – The thermal pools are surrounded by protected mountains and forest in the heart of the Lewis Pass National Reserve. The wintertime brings fresh, glorious powdery snow, while summer warms up for the short sleeved adventurers. There are a number of picturesque and seemingly hidden hiking trails and path to lose track of time on. Most visitors take full advantage of the natural wilderness, burning up their muscles during a day hike, so they can reap the rewards of well earned thermal springs soak.
