i visited this spring today, It is possible to fill bottles from the outflow before the ware falls into the trough. The spring seems not to be well known amongst the locals.Does any one use this spring on a regular dasis?

hi KLS, did you manage to harvest enough water and what was the quality like. It is quite strange though that the locals don’t know about the spring. appreciate your response.

      Hi KLS,

I am new to sourcing spring water and the issues around it, but as this is near me I would very much like to use it. I presume this is perfectly safe to drink? Did you do so and what was it like?

      Thanks

Hi. I submitted the spring last year. I used to go there with my 7 year old grandson, and we would collect about 80 litres each time. It’s lovely water. Neither of us ever had any problems from drinking it, in fact I also used to wash my face & even bathe my eyes with it. I always poured it through a large funnel with a coffee filter in, as its not always possible to avoid picking up a bit of debris as you are collecting it, especially when collecting large amounts. And, of course, it’s important to keep it cold and to keep the light from it if you are storing it. Sadly I’ve now moved from the area, but wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

I went today and it’s totally magical.  A very beautiful trough and the water is delicious.  I plan on going back regularly (that is assuming nothing funky happens after I drink it!) Thanks Daniel Vitalis for the site and the rest of you for being passionate about water!

  3. Lindsay Willcocks says:

Went to the spring for the first time today, met people who are are regulars and have been using it for two years plus.  Love the water, love the taste, love the energy.  I am going back next week for more.

  4. Harry says:

Visited today. Water tastes very nice, will be back for more!!

  5. katie says:

Visited for first time today. Very easy access, and closest spring we have found to us, as it’s just over half an hour away. Have been desperate to find decent water, due to health problems. Previously found fantastic one near Brighton, but it’s much harder to access from the road, and too far away. I have just measured the Ph, and it seems to be about 7.0, a bit lower than stated, and interestingly about the same as our tap water, (but obviously better quality)!, better than a certain bottled spring water, and many times better than filtered reverse osmosis. It would be fascinating to know how many people use it, and how many of those are local. There is a house almost next door, I was very tempted to knock on the door and ask!

  9. Paula says:

Has anyone had any luck finding a spring closer to Oxford. I am having treatment for breast cancer and wish to do all I can to keep myself healthy including drinking natural spring water. I’d be very grateful for any info or advice.

    • James says:

      Hi Paula

I just found a great resource for finding new springs. streetmap.co.uk allows you to navigate the ordinance survey map for the UK online. If you zoom into 1:25000 you will see Spr, Sprs, Fall, Falls and W (well). I’m currently in the process of mapping out my surrounding area and have found dozens. It’s becoming a bit of an obsession!

I just had a look at an area close to Oxford and found about 5 here – http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=456395&Y=210900&A=Y&Z=115. Hope this helps. FYI, I learned about this from http://naturalsprings.co.uk.

Thanks for the map of beckley where there are some springs listed.
I know the farmers at Folly Farm and sadly they spray their land at increasing rates. I would definitely not drink water from here. I would like to learn more but imagine that areas where there is aggressive farming practices will mean the land is really polluted with chemicals. Which is pretty much the whole of Oxfordshire.

  10. DANIEL says:

I have been yesterday there , tha water taste good but I test it with TDS meter and it shows 450 TDS 🙁
I will look for other spring with less than that. ( my tap water have tds 300 and should be not more than 150 tds )

    • Paul says:

      Hi Daniel,

Really Great to hear, I’m from High Wycombe and looking for a good source of well. Did you find a good source and what are the importance key element to check with tools/measurement to check if it is good to use. Many appreciated and with love Paul

The spring is afflicted with CCTV! I’m not kidding, there’s a little camera on a pole peeking out from the grounds of the National Trust place and pointing towards the Egyptian Well.

  12. Fakeflip says:

I only drink from this water. I hope it never gets privatised by some mega drinks company!! Pure mineral water.

  13. Jemimah says:

  15. Ollie Keiderling says:

Just wanted to share my experience of gathering some water from this site. I wrongly went into the hotel lobby enquiring about getting some spring water. I was told to e mail the hartwell house hotel and book a time to come down because it’s not open to the public. Then I read the description on here and found the spring myself. Before I managed to get my demijons out I was greeted by a man from the hotel checking up on me because he saw me on the security cameras. Not sure if it was because I was driving a transit van or because I was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie but I sensed they wetr judging me abit. I was very polite and explained I am trying to get healthy and spring water is very important in doing so. He let me be and I managed to fill 4 jugs 🙂

Word of advice….. Don’t go into the hartwell house hotel like I did!

  16. biba says:

We went today, beautiful place. The water is crystal clear. Easy to fill up small bottles which is all we had. Tasted great!

  25. Jessica says:

Have been 3/4 times to this spring and the water tastes lovely – I tested it today and the TDS reading was around 400. From what I’ve read this is quite a high reading. This is a very chalky area so wondering if that could be a reason for the high reading? Would love to know any others experiences of drinking this spring water?
