Please rate this spring

A pipe sticking out of the bottom of a hill. There is a little orange sign on a tree where the spring is. People stop on their way around the local town to fill up jugs and bottles with fresh, cold spring water.

Take Route 93 to exit 18 (Canterbury). Make a Right on West Road. Go
over the train tracks and down the hill, make a right on Intervale Road.
Go down about 1.5 miles and it will be on the left hand side once you
hit the dirt road and the forest and hills swallow you.

There has been some construction going on right at the spring site this summer… something to consider.

DO NOT DRINK – I drank about 20 oz. from this spring on 7/23/2017. 12 hours later I wasn’t feeling quite right and by 24 hours I had a fever and intestinal issues. I have had friends in the area who drank the water without ill affects, but it was apparently a bad risk to take.

July 15, 2018. Directions are good except it is 2.9 miles from beginning of Interval Road to spring (spring on left.) Water was clean and cold and flowing good. Maybe a minute to fill each gallon bottle. We talked to some people from the area filling bottles ahead of us and they said the water had been tested. We would go back. Convenient location if you’re traveling on Route 93.

  9. vicky says:

we filled up 20 four-liter glass bottles and drank them all. No problems. the water was great, as good as the spring we usually use. would happily stop there on my next drive up that direction.

  10. R says:

I have been drinking this water for a couple of months with no ill effects. It tastes very clean. I ran a drinking water analysis on the water today. I am awaiting the coliform bacteria results which will be ready in a couple of days. Here are the results I received:

    TTL hardness: 0 PPM
    TTL chlorine: 0 PPM
    Alkalinity: 40 PPM
    pH: 6.0
    Nitrite: 0 PPM
    Nitrate: 0 PPM
    Copper: 1.0 PPM
    Iron: 0 PPM
    Pesticide: NEGATIVE
    Lead: NEGATIVE

Overall, I find these are good results. The only result outside of the acceptable range is the pH which comes in a bit low.

  11. R says:

Coliform bacteria results are POSITIVE. Drink at your own risk.
