Just went to this spring yesterday and brought our handy dandy TDS meter and pH strips to test the water.
    TDS: 175 ppm
    Temp: 55 F
    pH: 6
In the short time we were there filling our water jugs, probably about 10-15 people also came by the get water. Great spring!

We now go to this spring once a month. It is easy to get to and parking along the road is easy. I hear it gets pretty busy in the summer. It is not agricultural or industrial around there. This is spring is actually an artesian well due to Portage Lake being lowered a long time ago by linking the lake to Lake Michigan, which still cause several springs in the area from the positive pressure remaining underground. Portage Lake is used, among other things, as a safe harbor for boats on Lake Michigan during storms.

Traveling on Portage Point Road away from Onekama and toward Portage Point, another landmark is that this is just past Little Eden Camp, which is also on the left. Well, almost past it, because this is actually on the edge the the camp’s property. There is a gravel pull-off for cars and bikes next to the well on the “toward Onekama” side of the road.

This water is the best water I have ever tasted.

My parents and I stopped here over the summer and filled up with water bottles and jugs – I’m not kidding, this is the best water I’ve ever tasted! And it wasn’t just a trickle – it had some power to it! We filled a gallon in under 30 seconds. Cold, clear, and very refreshing! I wish I lived closer because this would be the only water I’d drink!!!

We have an annual trip to this area and this artesian well is a regular stop. It really is a wonderful resource and it’s been flowing and free for generations. The person who said best water ever…I concur.
