For excellent drinking water this is amazing.  It has been tested and is great for drinking.  It is situated along the edge of the Kaskaskia River and near the old bridge.

This is a great spring! Easy access…
    Directions if heading north..
At Brownstown, go north on 2, until you get to a T, then turn left, which will still be 2, if you turn right, you will be on 6. Then, cross the bridge over a river, which is the Kaskaskia, but it will not be marked as such. Almost immediately after this, you will see an open field/crops on your left, and a huge white cross on a hill. Make the first available turn left towards this cross, and then turn left again onto 1490 E. There will then be signs such as “slow down, spring nearby” and just follow the road down until you see the spring and a water wheel. You can’t miss it! I am going back this Saturday/Sunday and I will take some pics- my phone died when I got there. Such a great place, very relaxing and calm.

Also, if you go on the trail that says, “no vehicles, but walkers welcome” you will come across some very fine examples of stinging nettles.

I’m looking for a spring closer to home. Is this location free to the public? What is the exact location? Thanks.

Totally free and easy to drive up to. When you get to Brownsville head north, and after a few miles there will be a T in the road, take a left. Then, after a bridge, you might see a white cross on your left side, turn onto the dirt road towards that cross. I have tried to upload pics before, but I kept getting error messages.

I went to where it said it was on the map without clicking on it and found an empty field. Someone needs to change the map.

The directions posted by Corrin are spot on! Thank you. And the water is delicious. I have photos and am not sure how to post them.
